BOAT SHOW GALLERY

What’s a boat show without a little Bling
…And the Boat Show Gallery’s got a lot of Bling!

Where to start? How about the jewelry department?
The Czech and Mirano glass beaded earrings, bracelets and necklaces by Marlene Van Beek , affordable as well as beautiful, are consistently the most popular pieces in the Gallery. Lynn Foley creates elegant and earthy adornments from semi-precious stones. Cavin Richie casts sea creatures in bronze that are at once delicate, sturdy and astonishing in their detail. Karen Kramer, a jeweler since the 1970’s, focuses on unusual designs. She combines Swarovski crystal, Czech glass and gemstones with hand-formed wires to complement the body and lay properly. Sue Coccia scales down her colorful and intricate animal designs to jewelry size for a look you won’t find anywhere else. Sarah Leonard, the jewelry department manager and owner of Crawsister Jewelry, adds a special dimension to the Gallery with her polished silver creations and upbeat personality.

New to the Gallery in 2011 is Clark Mundy. Clark spent years in the yachting industry, then turned his prodigious talents to copper. Hand-hammered copper salmon and sea creatures native to our Pacific Northwest waters are his specialty. A triple-lacquer finish makes them amenable for display on yachts or outdoors. You’ll be dazzled by his interpretation of the subject, imaginative design, and technical prowess.

The Gallery is also proud to welcome the photography of Lee Rentz. He is an accomplished professional photographer working in a wide range of categories. Lee will be focusing on Northwest themes for the Boat Show Gallery. His work is crisp, clean and colorful. Don’t miss it!

The Boat Show Gallery has been the art component of the Seattle Boat Show since 2004. We have been proud to feature many of the best artists and craftspeople in our region. Over time, it has become clear that you, the boat show attendees, consistently preferred some artists over all the rest. The returning artists this year comprise what might well be called “The Greatest Hits of the Boat Show Gallery”.

They include: Vic Cano (carved masks); Brian Clark (cribbage boards); Sue Coccia (animal prints, cards and jewelry); Dian Dangler (ceramic octopi and sea creatures); Pete Dorman (photography); Don Dye (copper repouse); Bill Freeborn (woodturning); Lori Nelson (sandblasted ceramics); David Smith (glass); Todd Stephens  and Jeff Tinius (pottery); Betty Vestuto (chart art); Jim Williamson (maritime prints); Nicky Oberholtzer (sculpture) and Tim Wistrom (whimsical prints).

The Boat Show Gallery is in the East Hall between the Green and Red Stages.
See you there!
